Windows Operating System Installation Guide

There are various ways to install a Windows Operating System on your PC, whether you are upgrading from Windows Vista, 7 or 8. In this guide, I will teach you how to install Windows 10.

You need to create a Windows installation Media

If you don’t have a Windows installation media with you, don’t worry, you can make one now. All you need is a PC with internet access and at least an 8 GB USB flash drive (16 GB recommended). You also need to know whether your PC’s motherboard is 32-bit or 64-bit architectured or not. If not, then you need to purchase Windows to get a product key. We can do this before or after the installation. Use the following steps to create a Windows Installation Media :

Insert a USB Flash drive with at least 8 GB of space into any PC with internet access. This will delete any existing data on the USB flash drive, so be sure to back up any data you want to keep.

Next Go to the Microsoft Website click the windows menu then windows 10.

Click Download Now.

Open the download file in your browser or Downloads folder.

Click Accept.

Select “Create Installation Media (USB flash drive, ISO file, DVD) for another computer” and click Next.

Select your Windows edition, language and PC architecture and click Next.

Select the “USB flash drive” option and click the Next button.

If you already have Windows installed on your computer, then a new Windows installation may overwrite your files. So back up any data, you want to keep before beginning this new Windows installation. You can back up your files to Google Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive, external hard drive or USB flash drive.

Insert the Windows Installation Media in the PC you want to install Windows on. You can insert the Windows Installation media into any USB port.

Reboot the PC

If the Computer is already powered on, reboot it using the normal restart procedures of the operating system that is installed on the computer. If it is not powered on, press the power button to boot it up.

Enter the Boot menu

Most computers have a boot menu you can enter while booting up. But there are different ways to access it, depending on your motherboard. The Basic way to enter the Boot menu is to press F10, F11, F12, F2, or Esc as the PC boots up. The Boot menu will display a list of drives you can boot from.

If you are using an older computer that does not have a Boot menu, you will have to Enter the BIOS while booting up. The buttons you press to enter the BIOS are different from one.

Motherboard manufacturer to another. It will usually say what buttons you need to press while your PC boots up. Most commonly, we press F1 F2, F3, Esc or Delete to enter the BIOS. You can also reboot your computer into the BIOS setting from inside the Windows Settings menu.

Search the option that says “Boot”, “Boot order” inside the BIOS settings. Change the boot order so that your computer boots from the USB drive first. Select save and exit option. This will reboot your computer from the USB drive.

Select your time, language and currency, and keyboard input and click Next. Use the drop-down menu to first select your language. Then select your keyboard input method and country or region. Then click Next.

Click the Install Now button. It’s the button in the centre of the screen.

This will prompt you to Enter the Windows product key and click Next. If you have already purchased Windows, you can find your license key in your confirmation email or Click I don’t have a product key, If you have not purchased Windows. You can purchase Windows and activate it later on.

Select the edition of Windows you want to install and click Next. If you have already purchased Windows, check the version of Windows you purchased and make sure you click the right version. If you’ve not yet purchased Windows, check which version you want to install.

Click the checkbox adjacent to “I accept the license terms” and click Next. You can read the license terms in the window in the centre. Select next to continue.

Click Custom: Install Windows only or Upgrade: Install Windows and keep settings, files and applications. If your PC already has a Windows installation on it, click Upgrade: Install Windows and keep settings, files and applications. If your PC does not have a Windows installation or you need to reinstall Windows, click Custom: Install Windows only.

Select the drive or partition you want to install Windows on and click Delete. If you have many hard drives or a hard drive with multiple partitions, select the partition you want to install Windows on and click Delete. Be aware that this will delete all data on the drive. Make sure you have saved all data you want to keep before continuing. This will leave the drive empty

Select the blank drive, then click Next. It’ll start installing Windows in the drive you selected. How much amount of time it takes will depend on the hardware of your PC.
